To Every Political Member: The Human Rights Record

This is addressed to every MP and MSP — the ones who have the power to ask questions, and the ones who have stayed silent. The full evidence is held privately and available to the proper authorities.

You represent a country whose institutions did this. I want you to read it as your record, not mine.

Article 3 — inhuman or degrading treatment. I was battered by the police. I was nearly murdered by the situation the state allowed. A child psychologist wrote me off as a child — and the abuse never stopped: not at work, not in my community, not when I reported it.

Article 6 — fair hearing. I was not given a fair tribunal in Scotland. I was not allowed to speak. When I asked for independent legal advice, the emails went out and the silence came back. Everyone ignored every communication — and the ignoring was worse than the original abuse, because it was done with my name on it.

Article 8 — private and family life. I was forced into social housing after the housing impact you already have on record. My ability to live has been restricted with no valued reason given. I have been alone in my home for the best part of a year and a half, and I am starting to not want to leave it.

Article 14 — discrimination. Disabled. A survivor. A gay man. Every door that should have opened closed, and the harm was downplayed at every turn by the very bodies meant to stop it.

I was abused as a child — on the at-risk register, locked in rooms. What you have done to me as an adult has brought all of it back. That is what the state does when it will not answer: it makes a grown man feel like the locked room again.

I am asking every political member reading this: ask the questions. Demand the answers. Do not allow your institutions to nearly kill a person and then ignore him for a year and a half.
