This policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, and the rights you have over it. We are committed to the principles of the UK GDPR / EU GDPR, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), and equivalent privacy laws in the jurisdictions where our users are located.

1. Who we are

The S·OS platform and caringforno1.com are operated by Darren Houston Limited (the "data controller"). Contact: hello@caringforno1.com.

2. Data we collect

Account data — email address, name, and (hashed) password when you create an account or sign in.
Contact / lead data — name, email and any message you submit via our contact or signup forms.
Usage data — pages visited, device type and approximate region, via privacy-respecting analytics.
Cookies — small files used to remember your preferences and keep you signed in (see section 7).

3. Why we collect it (legal basis)

Performance of a contract — to provide the services you request.
Legitimate interest — to operate, secure and improve the platform.
Consent — where required (for example, non-essential cookies and marketing).
Legal obligation — where we must retain records to comply with the law.

4. How we use and share data

We use your data to provide and improve the service, respond to enquiries, and keep the platform secure. We do not sell your personal data. We only share data with processors who act on our instructions (for example, hosting and email delivery) and where required by law.

5. Data retention

We keep personal data only for as long as necessary to provide the service and meet our legal obligations, after which it is deleted or anonymised.

6. Your rights

Access — request a copy of your data.
Rectification — correct inaccurate data.
Erasure — request deletion ("right to be forgotten").
Restriction / objection — limit or object to processing.
Portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format.
Withdraw consent — at any time, without affecting prior lawful processing.

CCPA residents may also exercise the right to know, delete, and opt out of the "sale" of personal information (we do not sell it). To exercise any right, email hello@caringforno1.com. We respond within one month (or the period required by your jurisdiction).

7. Cookies

We use essential cookies (to keep you signed in and remember your consent) and non-essential cookies (analytics) only with your consent. You can change your choice at any time via the cookie banner or your browser settings.

8. Security & international transfers

Data is stored securely and access is limited. Where data is transferred internationally, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses).

9. Telegram bot (@Caringforno1bot)

Our Telegram bot lets you request live platform information (service health, the daily Clarion articles, active warnings, emergency numbers, open tenders) and receive alert notifications.

What the bot stores

Your message text, your Telegram username/user id and the chat id — kept only in the S·OS platform database as a message and audit record.
If the bot pushes alerts to you, it holds your configured chat id so the notifications reach you.

What the bot never does

Never sells or shares your data. Nothing leaves our own UK VPS.
Never reads your other chats, contacts or media. The bot only receives messages sent directly to it.

Your choices

/privacy in the bot shows this summary; /help lists all commands.
To have stored messages deleted, email hello@caringforno1.com.
You can stop the bot at any time (block it in Telegram) — no further messages will be delivered.

10. Complaints

You have the right to complain to your local data protection authority — in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
