๐Ÿ“ข Open Statement ยท To the Media

To Time Magazine, and Every Outlet That Will Listen

Published openly on this site so it can never be said it wasn't said. Darren Houston, in his own voice.

There are charities in this country that have profited โ€” and, while profiting, refused their own members. They took the money. They took the public's trust. And then they chose who was allowed in.

I know, because I am one of the people they refused. A gay man. A survivor. A person who came to them in need, and was told โ€” in every way but words โ€” that some members are worth less than others.

The dates, the names and the documents are kept. The evidence is held, and it is available to any journalist who asks in good faith. I am not asking for anyone's reputation to be harmed without proof. I am asking for exactly the opposite: look at the proof, and then publish it.

Charity is not a business where you collect the praise and pick your customers. If an organisation holds itself out as being for everyone โ€” and is funded as being for everyone โ€” then refusing members is not a policy decision. It is the harm.

To Time magazine and to every outlet: my door is open. hello@caringforno1.com. Come and see what they didn't want seen.
