π³ Payments & Compliance β global, regulated, fair
How the platform takes money, protects customers, and stays legal in every market we serve.
Our promise, in plain words: we never take a penny without the customer's full, informed consent; an order is only placed β and only ever shipped β after payment is received in full; and every transaction is recorded, refundable, and protected by the same consumer rules we expect for ourselves. This page is written so a customer with no legal training can read it and know exactly where they stand.
1. Pay in full, before anything ships
- Payment first. An order is created only after payment clears in full. No payment = no order = nothing ships.
- Clear pricing. Every product shows its total price (including any delivery) before checkout β no surprise fees.
- Receipt always. Every payment generates an invoice (INV-xxxx) emailed to the customer and kept on record.
2. What we accept β and the fees we pay (transparent)
| Method | Type | Fee (what we pay, never passed on in the small print) | Status |
| BTCPay Server | Crypto (BTC, Lightning, LTC, XMR, USDCβ¦) | ~0% β self-hosted, the lowest possible | ready to configure |
| Stripe | Cards (Visa, Mastercard, Amexβ¦) | ~2.9% + 20p per transaction | ready to configure |
| Coinbase Commerce | Fiat + crypto | ~1% | ready to configure |
We choose the lowest-fee route per payment: crypto settles through BTCPay at ~0%; card payments go through the card processor. We will never hide a fee in the small print β what you see is what we pay.
3. Your rights as a customer (UK & EU baseline, honoured globally)
- Distance Selling / Consumer Contracts: for digital goods and physical products bought online, you have the statutory cancellation and refund rights that apply in your country β honoured by us as a minimum, and we go further where we can.
- Refunds: if something is wrong, or the law gives you the right, we refund in full to the original payment method β no quibbles, no delay beyond the payment processor's own time.
- Data protection (UK GDPR / EU GDPR): we collect only what a payment needs (name, email, delivery, payment reference). We never sell it. You can ask for a copy or deletion at any time.
- Dispute route: if you believe a payment was taken wrongly, contact hello@caringforno1.com first β a human reads it; then your card issuer's chargeback process always remains open to you.
4. How we keep it secure
- Card details never touch our servers β they go straight to the card processor (Stripe/PSP) over TLS.
- Crypto payments use verified payment invoices (BTCPay / Commerce) with signature-checked webhooks before we ever mark an order paid.
- We keep a tamper-evident record of every payment, invoice, refund and its reason β for our compliance and your protection.
- Payment status is only ever changed by a cryptographically signed confirmation from the processor β never by a manual claim.
5. The honest limits (we will never pretend otherwise)
- We are not a bank and not a licensed payment institution: we process through licensed providers (Stripe / BTCPay / Commerce), who hold the licences (PSD2 etc.) and the KYC/AML obligations for the jurisdictions they serve.
- If a market we sell into requires local registration (VAT, consumer law registration), we comply before selling there β we will not trade where we are not lawfully entitled to.
- Donations are voluntary and can be cancelled at any time; they are gifts, not purchases, and are used to keep the platform's free services running.
